Could you maybe submit this to the feedback portal: https://foundry.filewave.com/mod/page/view.php?id=583 along with priority as that is where we are funneling requests but over here is a good place to discuss the pros/cons. I can see where you might have certain apps you want to keep from updating for a period of time perhaps maybe for state testing and then other apps are ok to update so I'm guessing that's one of the use cases, but include in the portal maybe the reasoning you see for the request and it helps.
